"Asian-style dining is traditionally a shared experience and we've brought this into a present-day setting by adding a tapas section to the menu with items such as Taiwanese street-style fried chicken and jellyfish with poached chicken salad," Peng You's manager David Hung said.
"Some of the dishes are also recipes handed down through family and between friends, tying in with that feeling of tradition, community and friendship."
Add to the menu a carefully selected list of beers, wines and spirits alongside Peng You's own brand of wine brewed locally in Cleveland and wine on tap.
"We also have a number of Asian-inspired cocktails offered in jugs – classics that have a bit of a Chinese twist such as the Lemongrass Mojito, Ginger Martini and the Rising Sun which plays on the classic tequila sunrise but made on sake," David said.
The restaurant's décor is a mixture of past and present China, inspired by traditional Chinese iconography and modern city landscapes.
Combine a dim brick alleyway with an interpretation of Beijing's skyline for the ultimate impression of an old-world era behind today's industrialised China.
"We really wanted to create a setting that is casual, fun and social which is proving popular with diners here in Brisbane, but with a food and drinks offer that is deeply rooted in authentic Chinese cuisine."
Peng You China Kitchen and Bar is open seven days a week for lunch, dinner and drinks from 10:30am to 10pm and is also available for group bookings, cocktail-style parties and corporate functions.
