Food lovers unite as it’s time to clear your diaries and adorn your beret and stripes for the Le Festival Brisbane’s French Festival commencing from the 7th of July to the 9th of July, and La French Week from the 10th of July to the 14th of July.
Held at Brisbane’s South Bank Cultural Forecort, Le Festival, AKA Australia’s biggest French festival, is set to be ablaze with delectable food, incredible wine and divine French culture.
From croissants to champagne, masterclasses and French inspired acts; it’ll be as if you’re taking a stroll through The City of Lights right here in Brisbane. Festival Director, Betty Moinet, has said that this year’s festivities are set to be bigger and better than ever before.
“We are excited to offer festivalgoers the opportunity to really immerse themselves in French culture... The 2017 festival will include a massive opening night party with performances by live bands including Baby et Lulu as well as New Caledonia’s Full Bordel,” said Ms Moinet.
Also debuting this year is the wine and champagne bar, along with an extended menu of French delicacies such as an array of cheeses, moules-frîtes, raclettes and of course famous French pastries!
“New this year is an exclusive wine and champagne bar – a treasure trove of delightful wines and champagnes hidden behind our Bordeaux and Beyond Wine pavilion... Guests will be able to pair their wine with delicious French cheeses and will be spoilt for choice with the biggest cheese display in Le Festival’s history,” said Ms Moinet.
Adding the finishing touches to the overall ambiance of Le Festival includes an array of live French music and masterclasses, from fashion, food and art.
“Festivalgoers can also enjoy a series of masterclasses over the course of the weekend where they will learn about French style, taste delicious French wines, cheeses and beers, or paint a French masterpiece while sipping wine... And we haven’t forgotten about our youngest fans, with children’s activities available throughout Le Festival,” said Ms Moinet.
If you can’t get enough of the magnifique culture, rest assured as from Monday the 10th of July, 2017 to Friday the 14th of July, Brisbane will welcome La French Week! The first of its kind in Australia, it’ll be a week of celebrating all things France with photography, art workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions and performances taking place throughout the city.
“It’s so exciting for us to extend Le Festival into La French Week, giving even more people the opportunity to experience a little bit of French joie de vivre,” said Ms Moinet.
Launching the festival is La French Week ambassador, comedian Paul Taylor. Performing at the Tivoli, his hilarious half French half English show will have you in stitches. Throughout the week you can try your hand at cooking traditional cuisine, attend theatre shows and try out live drawing workshops.
