Delicious Destination | London Porterhouse

The Teneriffe street comes alive with the family's ventures and Argentinian ethos that eating, drinking and most importantly life are there to be enjoyed.

London Porterhouse is founded on McVeigh's family history and, in particular, Mercedes fascination with Argentina throughout her childhood.

"We cooked a lot of South American food growing up at home, and sat around the table drinking Argentinean wines was a regular pastime," she said.

"Argentinean culture is all about food, family and fun. That's what we want London Porterhouse to be all about – a place where friends, family and lovers can meet for a wine or a chat over a meal."

London Porterhouse is hidden under the London Woolshed Apartments in Teneriffe and made unique with antiques and one-off finds. Inside, an intimate and secluded atmosphere makes for the perfect friendly drink while outside, the large deck is ideal for the summer days ahead.

On the menu, Argentinian wine is served with share plates with different cuts of meats including pork ribs cooked on the Spanish coal fire grill, parrilla.

Chef Mark Maric centres the menu on locally grown and sourced produce cooked in a traditional South American way, with Argentinian classics empanadas, cerviche, grilled meats and seafood and Spanish-style desserts. Finished with traditional recipes, highlights include the whole grilled fresh fish and the twice-cooked duck with fig and red onion chutney with grilled Asparagus and Pedro Ximenex jus.

Wine is a particular focus and the list boasts verities from Spain, Portugal, France, Australia and New Zealand as well as a large selection of Argentinean varieties not available at any other Brisbane venues.

"The wine is a major focus, with our Argentinean wines sourced from a range of organic suppliers. They are full-bodied with unusual flavours, and we're really excited about sharing them with Brisbane," Mercedes said.

"We are going to be having Sunday sessions one a month into summer featuring South American BBQ's 'al fonda' and on Tuesdays we are doing free BYO nights, where people can dig into their cellars and share their wine experience with us," she said.

London Porterhouse is open for drinks and dinner Tue- Thu 5pm till 10pm and Fri-Sat 3pm till midnight.
