Her works are constantly changing and evolving so to celebrate her success we sat down with Joanna to talk about her passion, career and what's next.

When did you realise you wanted to be an artist?

JL: When I was about ten.

Describe your creative aesthetic in three words?

JL: Pared-down, romantic and dreamlike.

What inspires you?

JL: Being in the landscape, cinema, visiting art museums, hanging out with other artists.

Do you have a favourite piece from your new exhibition?

JL: Yes, it's a little painting I made about the shapes relating to the conifer and poplar trees in the front paddock at Essington Park.

What has been the most exciting moment in your journey so far?

JL: Winning the Country Energy landscape painting prize of $30,000.

What mediums do you use?

JL: Oils, watercolours, acrylics and gouache.

What message do you hope that your work projects?

JL: My hope is that after experiencing my paintings the viewer might see the world in a different way.

What advice would you give aspiring artists?

JL: Stay true to your creative self, have no fear and put your head down and bottom up!

What's next for you?

JL: My solo exhibition at King Street Gallery opening on the 2nd of June through until the 27th.
