Stepping out of your comfort zone allows you to experience things you wouldn’t otherwise. Your life will begin to change in ways you wouldn’t expect. These don’t always have to be huge, drastic changes, but small things, like trying something new, will help to broaden your horizons and let you grow as a person.
Here’s what happens when you start to take a few risks in life.
1. You will get scared
Breaking out of your little bubble of comfort isn’t easy, and it can be scary. Forcing yourself to try something new can fill you with trepidation. The trick is to not let those feelings of fear overwhelm you. Feeling scared is perfectly normal when you’re taking a risk. Don’t let it hold you back. Instead, accept that fear as an element of change and continue forward.
2. You will learn
Not only will you potentially be learning a new skill, you will also learn more about yourself and those around you. Living inside of a comfort zone means that your skills are limited to what’s necessary for you to get by. By leaving that comfort zone you’ll be entering personally uncharted waters that require you to expand your knowledge quickly and efficiently. Once you can confidently step out and learn a new skill, you'll be surprised at to what you can achieve.
3. Regret will be replaced with excitement
Have you ever felt that feeling of regret because you said ‘no’ to something that felt too out of reach for you? Everyone has at some point. But by breaking free of your comfort zone and saying yes to more invitations, that regret will quickly be replaced by the excitement of new experiences.
4. You’ll inspire the people around you
When you’re out trying new things and experience different aspects of life, you inspire not only yourself but others around you. People are often scared to try new things but when they witness someone successfully doing just that, they are more inclined to try it out for themselves.
Remember to start small. Breaking free of your life bubble doesn’t have to be done in one giant leap. Take plenty of small steps and learn just how great it feels to get out of that comfort zone!
