To celebrate the opening of the world premiere exhibition, Viktor&Rolf: Fashion Artists, Dutch designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren from avant-garde fashion house Viktor&Rolf, will appear in conversation with international guest curator Thierry-Maxime Loriot in a major NGV public event on Friday 21 October, 6.30pm at NGV International.
This is an unmissable opportunity to get a glimpse into the minds of these creative geniuses!
Viktor&Rolf in Conversation will explore the designers’ boundless creativity and their career-defining ethos of ‘wearable art’. As self-confessed outsiders of the fashion world, since forming their artistic partnership in 1992, Horsting and Snoeren have gained international recognition for their unique approach and experimentation.
If you’re a lover of all things couture, then you’ll want to see this dynamic duo in conversation!
The pair are renowned for their experimental runway shows, including their 1999 ‘Russian Doll’ show in which model Maggie Rizer was progressively dressed by the designers in nine different layers and 2003’s ‘One Woman Show’ fashion collection inspired by actress and muse Tilda Swinton, featuring the actress herself amidst a runway of models made up in her likeness.
Put this event into your calendar as a must-do, and plan a long-weekend jaunt to Melbourne!
Tickets will go on sale 10am Thursday 29 September, following an NGV Members’ exclusive presale available from 10am Wednesday 28 September. A ticket to Viktor&Rolf in Conversation includes entry to the Viktor&Rolf: Fashion Artists exhibition, valid for one visit during the exhibition period, 21 Oct 2016 – 26 Feb 2017. Go the same weekend, or use it as an excuse to visit Melbourne again later in the year! No doubt you’ll want to pick up some fab new pieces from Melbourne’s shopping scene after seeing Viktor&Rolf’s best work.
