Now in its fourth year, Urban Couture has become a leading program in the Perth fashion calendar as it brings high-quality fashion to the northern region of Perth and showcases Joondalup as a cultural, fashion-forward destination.
Harris said, "My indigenous heritage is very important to me and I am excited to be given the opportunity to support, meet and interact with a vast range of creative artists and designers from Joondalup."
"I have worked in the Australian fashion industry for close to 10 years now, as a young model competition entrant and now as a fully fledged fashion model. I hope to be able to share with them some of my experiences, insights and observations."
Mayor Pickard said the City is thrilled to have secured a high profile Ambassador such as Harris for Urban Couture 2014.
"Samantha worked very hard from a beauty pageant hopeful to her position today as one of the major drawcards of fashion festivals across Australia," he said.
"She is a wonderful role model for other aspiring fashion professionals and an example of how persistence in the industry does pay off."
Harris will headline a pop-up runway at Sorrento Beach on Saturday 22 March. The free public event, open to the community to support the Western Australian fashion industry, commences at 6pm.
