Pantone’s fashion colour trend of 2017 is Greenery

Will you be embracing Pantone's Greenery colour of 2017?

Recently, I was having a conversation with a non-fashion obsessive and we stumbled across the topic of the 2017 colour of the season, Greenery. He was underwhelmed at the thought that someone or something out there could have power to influence the world. I simply explained that Pantone ultimately predicts the colourways for the season and every industry from fashion to interior design follows suit.

Last year, we embraced Rose Quartz and Serenity. Their sugary palette of frostings ended up hanging in our wardrobes and decorating our coffee tables. Thankfully, 2017 welcomes a more grown up approach with a change that turns to nature for clean, earthy and muted tones.

Titled Greenery, (more specifically, Pantone 15-0343) this starring shade reflects our current environment.

“Bringing forth a refreshing take, Greenery is a tangy yellow-green that speaks to our need to explore, experiment and reinvent. Illustrative of flourishing foliage, the fertile attributes of Greenery signals one to take a deep breath, oxygenate and reinvigorate,” states Pantone’s 2017 colour report.

Pantone undoubtedly has the power to forecast well in advance and the many industries obey and adapt to make an on-trend mark. You’ll see this colour infiltrate wardrobes, buildings, interior design, food, travel and so much more.

Possibly a nod to the current political change, new year resolutions or the need to make better decisions that impacts our environment – it almost gives us a chance to start afresh.

Greenery, Pantone’s 2017 colour of the year offers serenity in a time of chaos. It’s more than just a tone or trend; it reflects a time and marks a moment in history.
