The iconic Brisbane Arcade has history in its foundations; an antiquity which will be complemented perfectly by the display of a rare selection of Harvey Graham couture frocks.

The glory days of one of Queensland's most prominent designers of the 60's and 70's will be re-lived as a collection of boxed and unworn dresses by Harvey Graham surfaced from a deceased estate.

The display will form part of the Brisbane Arcade's up-coming 90th anniversary celebrations as the pieces are returned to the original home of Harvey Graham Couture.

Ladies and gentlemen, it's time. Time for the year's most anticipated, most carefully planned and most competitive event of the nation's social calendar. The Spring Racing Carnival is upon us; complete with Melbourne Cup and made magical by the twilight cocktail parties, weekend race days and everything champagne-filled in between.

For such an occasion and such hype there comes the dress code, the season's trends and the what not-to-do's.

Wardrobe1

It's hard to believe that it's the spring cleaning time of year again! It is time to giving your wardrobe a makeover and get rid of all the bits and pieces that have been hiding away. I know this sounds awfully dull, but I have 3 simple rules for you to follow that will rid you of all your un-wanted clothing to make way for all the fabulous summer fashion that is on your wish list.

Rule 1: This is the old golden rule- If you haven't worn it in the last 12 months, out it goes. You need to be strict when going through your wardrobe and the first things to go are the items you haven't worn, for whatever reason, in this time frame.

The Essential Handbag Styles this Spring

With the change in season upon us, it's time to shed the layers we have hidden under and makeover our wardrobes. That includes our accessories, and first and foremost we start with the one you use day in and day out, the handbag. Whether it's a clutch, bowler, tote or envelope style, your handbag is a great way to add a point of interest to your outfit without a whole lot of effort and embrace the trends of this spring/summer fashion.

Out with the drab, in with the fab! This spring brings colour and that means the black 'old faithful' bag should be given a rest. A colourful handbag is an essential part of every woman's wardrobe. Match your outfit with your handbag using complimentary tones or colours for a complete look.

There's a fine silver line between commercial jewellery and art; a foreign domain to many jewellery designers. Australian and international jewellery industry icon, Daniel Bentley, works comfortably in this zone and produces collections with an eye for sophistication, style and beauty, modernity and innovative flair.

Daniel produces collection after collection of high-end statement jewellery pieces featuring silver, diamonds, 18 carat yellow gold, sapphires and natural gemstones. He and his wife, Lene, regularly travel the Australian landscape where Daniel finds inspiration from salt planes, seed pods, water, and life in the sky; the ultimate definition of culture.

"I spend a lot of time flying so there are many hours to fill with drawing and designing," he said.

"There are some amazing shadows created by the afternoon sun on the clouds as you fly over Western Australia."

MBFF Day Four: Ultimate Glamour

DayFour04

Wrapping up day four of MBFF Brisbane was a well-deserved installment of ultimate glamour and high fashion, complete luxury and a vital injection of fashionable indulgence. Fashion Weekly has the news from the runway and the fashion shows.

EP by Easton Pearson took a note from the original Easton Pearson collection but added a touch of formality and colour. The crowd was left lusting over balmy summer nights with cheeky shorts, refreshing blouses and casual chic dresses.

Urbanna was all about the on-the-go but relaxed man with a collection of shorts and blazer combinations, the odd loafer, versatile suits and some distinctive colour. We'd love to see their floral blazer style walking towards us on the street!

MBFF Day Four: Luxe vs. Relaxed Chic

MBFF Day Four: Luxe vs. Relaxed Chic

DayFour01

In what seems an event dedicated to luxe high fashions of the most distinctive kind, day four of MBFF Brisbane began with the city's most prominent designers presenting a different interpretation.

The evening's first runway was all about soft-fitting and relaxed pieces with an almost sustainable approach. Fashion Weekly was front row and we have all the details!

Akira used a mix of pastel shades and toned-down nudes to create a naturally peaceful feel. Smooth fitted pieces in the form of trousers, blouses and a classic mid dress were teamed with kimono style pieces and maxi dresses. Sleek, straight hair, a bold red lip and a statement flower headpiece made for the most effortless aesthetic.
