The Fashion Festival has evolved into a powerhouse on the state's events calendar and 2012 promises more mesmerising shows, sell-out and stylish events, workshops, discussion forums and of course, more spectacular fashion.
Festival Director Lindsay Bennett is extremely pleased with the growing support that surrounds the event each year. "Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane is now in its seventh consecutive year and the response we receive is always heartening," he said. "Last year's event saw the largest number of participating designers and retailers yet and their stunning collections prove, without a doubt, that our local fashion talent can cut it on an international stage."
Queensland is renowned for its natural beauty and tropical weather, making our capital city a fitting location to showcase these new season collections. With such amazing natural inspiration, our local designers and retailers do Spring/Summer like no one else and each year they continue to thrill audiences with their designs.
With 13 of the 15 shows selling out in record time last year, it really will be a first past the post in the race for the hottest fashion tickets in town.
This consumer-driven event is staged to coincide with the arrival of new Spring/Summer collections in-store, making these looks accessible to the public direct from the runway. Every look showcased during the Fashion Festival is available and ready to buy, which directly promotes the participating designers by encouraging consumerism. In the face of tough economic times, particularly for bricks-and-mortar retailers, supporting the Queensland fashion industry is increasingly important. The positive economic effect of the Fashion Festival is undeniable, with the majority of designers and retailers who participated in 2011 reporting a significant increase in interest and retail sales as a result, with some collections selling out following the shows.
The Fashion Festival is also proud to support important charity efforts, and $1 from every ticket sold this year will go to The Courier-Mail Children's Fund, dedicated to providing funds to help sick and disadvantaged children achieve their full potential.
The Fashion Festival is thrilled to welcome back its naming-rights sponsor, Mercedes-Benz, whose continued support ensures the event's massive success.
Geoff Hogg, Managing Director, Treasury Casino & Hotel, is pleased to welcome Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane for 2012. "As a major Queensland fashion event, we are excited to host the Fashion Festival this year. Treasury Casino & Hotel is Brisbane's ultimate entertainment destination and the ideal venue for this glamorous event."
The preparations continue for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane 2012, which promises to once again dazzle audiences with the ingenuity and individuality of our designers and retailers.
Like fashion itself, Mercedes-Benz Fashion Festival Brisbane will continue to look to the future, continue to move to the next level and, as always, continue to captivate, inspire and enchant audiences. Watch this space.
