Lord Mayor Graham Quirk said the Fashion in The City parade celebrated the quality of fashion available in the Brisbane CBD.
"The parade is designed to help strengthen the positioning of Brisbane's thriving CBD as Queensland's premier shopping destination," Cr Quirk said.
"Our CBD has become a magnet for international retailers and we've seen an influx of high-end luxury brands, cementing our reputation as a New World City.
"For example, in the next couple of months we will see the opening of stores here by Burberry, Paspaley, Bulgari, Cartier, Dior and Forever 21."
Cr Quirk said during the past two years, Edward Street had attracted global brands including Chanel, Longchamp, Gucci, Beautifeel and TAG Heuer, while Topshop opened on the corner of Albert and Elizabeth Streets last December.
"The strategic decision for these retailers to move in is another feather in the cap of Brisbane's ever-expanding luxury brand market," Cr Quirk said.
