As passionate fashion devotee’s, there is hardly a new trend that we’re not afraid of coveting. But even we can admit that there are certain styles that have been worn way too much. We mean, what happened to individuality?
Here are the 12 fashion trends that we’re so over seeing.
It’s the style that Kim Kardashian brought to our attention with her oversized Yeezus jumpers and fitted corset belts. Now, it’s been rocked by everyone from Fashion Week attendees to our fave style bloggers. While at first, we were all for this totally urban style, we’re over seeing this totally cliché look.
All nude everything
Take a scroll through your Insta feed and you’ll see every social media star has worn this look. We’re talking nude on nude on nude. A neutral pencil skirt paired with a skin toned fitted tank top, with nude heels and a nude lip to boot. We mean, inject come colour into your lives people!
We are all for sun smarts, and while there are people who somehow have the ability to wear a baseball cap and make it sexy, for us they just bring up the supressed memory of our compulsory High School sports uniform. Hat included *shudder*.
Worn in an “ironic way” of course. A huge contrast to oversized sunglasses; whatever your face shape miniscule sunglasses are the early naughties trend that just isn’t flattering. Which leads us to our next no-go look...
Metallic bikinis; rhinestones; bubble skirts, and low rise, flared jeans complete with a dangly belly button ring. There’s a reason why naughties fashion should stay in the past!
3 quarter Jeans
Not quite jeans, not quite shorts. There’s only one word we can use to describe jorts (jeans/shorts) and that’s awkward. Either commit and go long or select shorts, it’s that simple!
Wearing unbuttoned shorts
All this talk of denim leads us to our next point: unbuttoned shorts. Seriously, what is the point? How do you not live in the constant fear of your shorts falling down?!
Faux lip rings
Yet another look brought to our attention by Kimmy K. There is something just so distracting, and dare we say annoying, about the faux lip ring. Surely they feel distracting, don’t they? Please take it off ASAP!
We were once obsessed with chokers, yet they’ve been done for so long that it’s time for us to move on to another accessory style.
Embroidery and patches on denim
We once loved the totally DIY aesthetic of embroidery and patches, yet now this look is a little more yawn than yes. While it’s still perfect for festival fashion, this definitely shouldn’t be rocked at the office.
Especially the slides with the faux fur souls. While they do look totally comfy, there is nothing stylish about running errands while trying to keep shoes on your feet. Don’t even get us started on how they’d smell once sweat and a busy day are thrown into the mix...
This one doesn’t really need much of a description. They’re basically the crocs of the heel category. Please keep these styles off your feet!
