Survive Valentine’s Day when you’re single AF

Now is not the timeto buy cats.

It’s one of the most controversial days of the year, and we don’t mean to alarm you but Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. While this is the day for all the loved up couples to excessively use PDA and not be glared at, for all the single ladies out there it can be one of the longest and lonesome days of the year.

While we totally agree that a man doesn’t define who we are, sometimes it’s nice knowing that at the end of the day you’re cherished. But don’t spend your day hiding under your doona! Here’s how to survive Valentine’s Day when you’re single AF.

1. Buy your wine in bulk

Wine, it can help you drown your sorrows. While we’re not condoning excessive drinking, we are recommending having a nice, tall glass of Pinot Noir while running yourself a bubble bath. Extra points if you set up a laptop to binge watch Netflix to your hearts content.

2. Become an amateur detective

Now is not the time to waste your hours watching soppy romance movies and dwindling into a pit of despair (we’re looking at you, The Notebook!) Take this opportunity to delve into a whole new series that you’ve never seen before (and with little romance in sight). Think Stranger Things, Orange Is The New Black and Criminal Minds. As long as there isn’t kissing every two seconds we guarantee you’ll be fine!

3. Treat Yo’self

While we urge you not to be caught watching a soppy romance movie, we do encourage you to treat yo’self. Now is the time to splurge on that designer bag you’ve been eyeing off or that dress you’ve been obsessing over. Listen, if you can’t spoil yourself, how can you expect someone else to?!

4. Pamper Yo’self

Take the time out of your hectic schedule to give yourself a little TLC. Get a massage, facial or even rope in your other single girlfriends for a complete day at the spa! All we know is that when you’re looking good, you’re feeling good too.

5. Download Tinder

We know that some of you will cringe, but there’s nothing wrong with a little mindless flirting. Plus, you never know who you’ll match with!

6. Send your single BFF a bunch of flowers

Brighten up someone else’s day and send your single BFF a bunch of beautiful blooms. We guarantee a little act of kindness will go a long way on Valentine’s Day.

7. Try a new workout

Have you always wanted to try Body Barre but put it off because you’re too tired at the end of a long day, or let’s be honest, you are a little intimidated by stepping into the unknown? Embrace your fear and take the leap! Exercise releases all types of feel good endorphins that will leave you feeling incredible after your new workout.

8. Throw a singles party

Ok, it isn’t as desperate as it sounds! Organise a night out, dinner party or restaurant reservation with a group of your single girlfriends. Enjoy each other’s company and use the confidence your girlfriends give you to flirt with that cute guy at the bar.

9. Remind yourself that this doesn’t define you

We get it, being single can feel so lonely. But while it’s easy to focus on all of the sad things about your single status, it’s time to concentrate on the great things! You can do whatever you like, whenever you want, flirt with whoever you like and truly focus on yourself and your happiness! The possibilities are literally endless. So thank your lucky stars that you’re not fretting over what to get your special someone and take this time to tick off some bucket list goals. You’ve got this.
