Naughty gadget: always wake up on the right side

What, what?

Nobody likes the sound of their alarm in the morning. You might use a typical blaring sound to jolt you awake, or you could try using a song you like in the effort to wake up happy (and then end up hating the song). But how many of us have thought to use an alarm that doesn’t play sounds?

So, it’s a silent alarm? Well, kind of.

The Little Rooster S is, to say the least, an interesting invention. It is a vibrator alarm clock.

A vibrator. Alarm clock. Whaaat?

The Little Rooster website tells you to “wake sexy”, by waking up to the gradual increase in vibrations from the gadget, which sits inside your underwear as you snooze. Seeing as it looks like a small pink eggflip, we aren’t too sure how comfy this would be to sleep with.

Wait, what?

Like a regular alarm clock, you set your wake up time on the Little Rooster before you go to sleep. Unlike the normal alarm clock, the Little Rooster S has 27 levels of intensity, all apparently silent. Little Rooster S is an upgrade on the original Little Rooster, and can be pre-ordered, but it’s not cheap. It costs £69, or about AUD $118. Maybe the price in pounds is a sneaky joke by the company…

The website’s information page claims you will “Wake slowly. Sensually. Pleasurably.” Who decided that was the new way to wake up? Who even feels sexy first thing in the morning?

Little Rooster S is said to be body-safe and free of harmful phthalates, but how safe, comfortable and hygienic can it really be? Sure, it sits outside the body, but if you’re a sleep thrasher, will it shift in the night? We aren’t too sure we’d want to wake up with a vibrating knee.

And if you end up hating the sound of your alarm because it’s what wakes you up…what if the Little Rooster S makes you end up hating other things?!
