While we love spoiling our significant other on Valentine’s Day, there is no doubt it can be an expensive task. With restaurants and florists hiking up their prices, a bunch of roses and a nice dinner out can end up costing you hundreds of dollars. So think outside the box this Valentine’s Day and spoil your partner with something new. There are so many ways to make the day super special without breaking the bank.
Romantic dinner in
Get dressed up, cook up your partner’s favourite meal and light some candles for a romantic evening without the price tag. Later on, snuggle up in front of the TV with some wine and chocolate for a romantic movie marathon.
Picnic under the stars
Pack a picnic rug, grab some food and head to a park or the beach to enjoy a night of stargazing. There’s nothing more romantic than that!
Don’t be afraid to look for deals
If you still want the experience but aren’t willing to pay full price, jump onto sites like Groupon and snag an amazing deal on everything V-Day related, including restaurants, movie tickets and experiences.
Games night
Break out the Monopoly board or settle in for an evening of some serious Scrabble fun. Board games are a great way to take a break from technology and enjoy each other’s company. Nothing like a bit of friendly competition, right?
Write them a love letter
Write, don’t type, text or post, a heartfelt letter to your significant other. There is nothing more thoughtful that reading about just how much you are loved.
Homemade gifts
Bake something special for your loved one or get crafty and make a photobook of memories. Then spend the evening reminiscing and eating some delicious baked goods together. DIY gifts are super thoughtful because they are one of a kind!
Hit the shops
Make their day with a cute stuffed animal, some heart shaped balloons or rose petals scattered over the bed. Head to your local cheap shop and pick these up for just a couple of dollars, winning!
A weekend away
You may be thinking, no way this is affordable! You’re right, Valentine’s Day is when prices are at their highest, so book a weekend in the off-peak. Give it as a gift on the day and then enjoy later. It also gives them something to look forward to!
No matter how you choose to spend Valentine’s Day, there are so many affordable things you can do to make it a memorable one!
