From ghosting to orbiting and even gaslighting, I’m sure we can all agree that dating in 2018 is pretty damn confusing. So one more word won’t hurt, right? Let me introduce you to the new dating trend on the block, curving. The concept behind it is really nothing new. Basically, it’s a way of letting someone down without actually telling them you aren’t interested. Sound familiar? Probably because it’s happened to you before.
Curving happens when he doesn’t know if he wants a relationship (ahem) is too afraid to break it off with you. So instead, he continues engaging in menial and pointless conversation, resulting in a giant waste of everyone’s time. Not only that, but it’s likely to leave you confused, frustrated, angry and sad, all at the same time.
So let us save you the time and heartache, here’s how to spot if a guy is curving you.
Unlike ghosting, a guy who is curving you WILL actually reply to your messages. Although, it may take a few days or even a week and it will be nothing short of underwhelming. ‘Sorry, I’ve been so busy,’ is the most common line you will hear.
A guy who is curving you will also never start the conversation or ask questions about you. If you feel like you are bothering him every time you want to talk, it’s probably time to accept that he isn’t interested in anything serious.
Finally, if you make plans, be prepared. If he is curving you he will most likely bail at the last minute. Another red flag? A completely poor excuse as to why he bailed.
Ultimately, if you feel like you aren’t getting anywhere and he doesn’t seem to be making any effort, you might have a curver on your hands. My advice? Run, as far as you can in the other direction. You can do so much better!
