Whether it's a first date or date night with your partner of seven years, these fun date ideas will keep the passion alive.
Plan a games night
Perfect for a group date night or just the two of you, having a games night is a personal favourite of mine. Open a bottle of wine and let the dice (and the good times) roll. A little tip to make it extra fun and a little saucy? Cards Against Humanity is always a hit!
Two words: Wine tasting
Because spending the day sipping vino in the gorgeous surrounds of a winery is the perfect way to unwind and hang out.
Go to a trivia night
There's nothing more attractive than intelligence! Channel your inner nerd and impress your date at a local trivia night.
Strap on some skates and whizz around your local rink - plus, it's the perfect excuse to hold hands.
Take a cooking class
You'll learn how to make the perfect dish and have fun in the kitchen.
Who doesn't love racing around in go-karts? Channel your inner child (or Daniel Ricciardo) and enjoy the ride - or get super competitive and race each other to see who the superior go-kart driver really is.
Give each other massages
Light some candles, cue the slow music, break out the essential oils and give each other a nice long back rub. Plus, who knows where else it will lead...
See a comedy show
Forget food, the key to your dates heart is laughter. Pick a comedian you both like - but be sure to sit up the back! A great comedian will pick up on even the smallest hint of awkwardness (and first dates are full of those) and exploit it. The couple that laughs together stays together.
Check out a food festival
If you're both foodies but don't feel like splurging on an expensive restaurant, a food festival is the perfect date. The range of options will give you plenty to talk about and eat.
Play an outdoor sport
Kick a ball around in the park, toss a Frisbee or hit up the tennis courts for some one-on-one.
Go to a painting class
Painting classes are gaining in popularity and you'll get to spend the night creating something - masterpiece or not! Plus, you'll bring home something you made together.
Go rock climbing
There's something about rock climbing which takes you outside your comfort zone, so it's perfect if you're a new couple still getting to know each other. Plus, it's scientifically proven that high adrenaline levels are linked to attraction (which explains the crazy, death defying dates on The Bachelor!).
Brave the shooting range
There's nothing like adrenaline and some healthy competition to create a spark.
Test your bowling skills
Or in my case, lack thereof. Whether you're a bowling champion or a complete rookie like me, there's nothing like a bit of playful competition to break the ice - plus, you can shamelessly check out your date's butt. Need I say more?
Emma is just your average book loving, tea drinking, story writing, narcissistic millennial on an eternal quest for the perfect t-shirt. Ever since she picked up her first copy of Dolly when she was twelve, she always knew she wanted to work in magazines. She would describe herself as a bit of a hopeless romantic with an obsession for true crime and horror and a love for red wine, whiskey or a stiff gin and tonic. When she's not binge watching Netflix or buying things she can't afford online, she spends her weekends trawling through bookstores and eating her way through Brisbane.
