So, New York Fashion Week has officially kicked off with one of the first shows being Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 4. Always needing to stand out from the crowd, Kanye decided to showcase his collection at Roosevelt Island, meaning that his A-lister guests had to catch a not so glam bus to the destination (we can almost hear the disgust from here!)
Of course Kim, Kendall and Kylie arrived fashionably late (about an hour and 15 mins to be exact) with their whole camera crew in tow to film for Keeping Up With The Kardashians. But we’re not here to talk about the famed sisters, or even their completely tonal outfits that we’re so over seeing.
We’re here to talk about how Yeezy’s Season 4 show was a total “abomination”.
While the models stood in their usual Yeezy stance before the show, fashion editors and the audience were left outraged when models began to faint due to dehydration and heat exhaustion. And what’s more, the Yezzy Season 4 team did nothing about it.
The show, which was 2 hours late, left models standing in the sweltering heat. When the first model fell, the crowd were unsure if it was just part of the Yeezy show #drama. Yet when over 30 models sat down after 20 minutes of standing in the heatwave, it was hard to believe that it was part of the act. Instead of the Yeezy team assisting the models, audience members ran onto the catwalk to give them water.
Fashion editors took to their social media pages to voice their outrage, with Stella Bugabee from WhileThe Cut sharing her disgust, stating that while she wanted to leave like other editors, she felt personally responsible to ensure the wellbeing of the models.
“Model passed out in the heat is given water by man in the audience but no one on the #YeezySeason4 team helps... Watching editors leave #YeezySeason4 but I feel obligated to watch out for these models and see what else they have to go through,” tweeted Bugabee.
To make matters worse, models were forced to kick off heels mid walk due to faulty shoes. So not cool.
There is a difference between being fashionably late and being just plain obnoxious. We wonder what the future holds for Yeezy after this disastrous event? However, now that we’re looking at the images we wouldn’t put it past the rapper-gone-designer to have models “fainting” as a publicity stunt. What do you think? Is it just a ploy or has Kanye really lost the plot?!
