The creme de le creme of the 2016 OSCARS

Celebrities best dressed at the Oscars

This year marked the 88th Annual Academy Awards, and boy oh boy was it a night to remember!

Here at Fashion Weekly we have compiled the ultimate OSCAR's wrap up, so pour yourself a glass wine and sit back and relax as you prepared to be wowed.

Lily Cole's strikingly silver gown calls for an applaud. The 28 year old wore a Vivienne Westwood frock which was made completely out of recycled plastic bottles! Who knew it was possible to be so impeccably chic and sustainable all at the same time.

This year we are certainly going gaga for well.. Gaga! Elegantly draped on the arm of her beau Taylor Kinney, she wore a hybrid white pantsuit (with a twist). In a sea of gowns, Lady Gaga totally stood out on the red carpet thanks to the voluminous skirt and train!

While we loved Gaga's red carpet look.. Jennifer Lawrence wore what can only be described as every girls dream. Opting for Dior's latest creation JLawrence wore a feathered nude gown which was certainly breathtaking!

And how could we forget to mention how incredible Cate Blanchett looked! Dressed to the nines in an Armani Prive, sea-foam green, cap-sleeve mermaid gown that featured hand sewn clusters of Swarovski crystals and white feathers, the 46 year old actress looked like a real life princess!

But like any red carpet event there are also the eh.. awkward style blunders...

Heidi Klum appeared well, tacky. Wearing a billowing lavender chiffon gown that provided both gaudy fabric flowers and a bit of racy cleavage - this wasn't one of her best moments.

Whereas Academy Award Winner, Alicia Vikander, looked like a real life Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

But the outfits weren't the only source of gossip this year!

When it comes to harmlessly recognising someone incorrectly we can all admit that we've slipped up a few times, or if not then at least after a couple of drinks.. certainly?! But the stakes are a little higher when you're tweeting live from the red carpet at the the OSCARS.. with a following of 51.8k.

LA- based beauty company, Total Beauty, confused Whoopi Goldberg for Oprah Winfrey in a tweet that has since been deleted. The beauty company tweeted a photo of Goldberg, at the 88th Annual Academy Awards red carpet, with the caption “We had no idea Oprah was tatted, and we love it. #Oscars”.

Thankfully, the tweet has since be removed but for thirty (painful) minutes it was published. Though during that time over 2,000 people had re-tweeted the photo before it was deleted by Total Beauty....whoops!

If this photo doesn't have your heart racing at least a little, then this photo certainly will. Titanic fans.. stay hopeful about your dream Hollywood (should be) couple! Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet got a little cosy AGAIN on the red carpet.

The BBF's have once again had the chance to enjoy the pleasure of each other's company at repeated red carpet events this year. Winslet shocked us a little with her custom-made Ralph Lauren gown which looked quite disappointing but Leo himself was as hot as ever in an Armani tux!

What do you think FW lovers? Which was your favourite 2016 OSCAR's moment? {jcomments on}
