When it comes to beauty, us girls are very fond of any hacks that will save us time in the morning. The quicker we can make our beauty upkeep, the happier we are. The less time you can spend managing your hair or putting on makeup, the more time you can spend watching Netflix or sleeping in. You know, the things that really matter.
For better grip, flip your bobby pin over so the wavy side is against your head
If your bobby pins are always slipping out, flip the pin over. The straight side is slicker and won’t grip as well as the wavy side.
Blast your eyelash curler with a hairdryer to heat it up, so your lashes curl better
This works the same way as when your hair holds a curl with a curling iron. To do it, simply blast your lash curler with your hairdryer until it heats up, wait until it cools slightly but is still warm (you don’t want to burn your eyelid), then clamp down on your lashes to curl them.
Apply Vaseline on your pulse points before spraying your perfume to make the scent last longer
This will hold the fragrance onto your skin for longer than if you were to just spray the perfume on bare skin.
Insert bobby pins into your ponytail vertically to prop up your ponytail
Once you’ve put your hair up in a ponytail, insert a couple of bobby pins halfway inside the elastic and facing down towards the crown of your head. Then fluff your ponytail and flip it over for a fuller pony that won’t sag or droop.
If you’ve run out of brow gel, substitute by spraying hairspray onto a clean mascara wand
It’ll give you exactly the same effect – perfect for girls on a budget!
The most flattering way to apply concealer is to draw a triangle with the base underneath your eye and the point towards your cheek.
Not only does this shape conceal dark circles, it also instantly creates the illusion that your face is lifted. Think of it as holding a torch against your cheek, shining the light right underneath your eye and drawing the focus upward.
To make your hair look instantly thicker, dust an eyeshadow that’s the same colour as your hair along your part to hide your scalp.
You can also use this trick along your hairline if you wear it up in a ponytail a lot to get the same effect.
Apply foundation at the centre of your face and blend out
If you apply lots of foundation around your jawline and hairline, it will look like you’re wearing a mask. By starting at the centre, the product will fade out around the edges for a more natural look.
Line and curl your lashes at the same time
If you’re really pressed for time or just lazy (its okay, no judgement here!) you can line your eyes and curl your lashes in one step. Draw a line using either a kohl pencil or gel liner (avoid liquid liner because it smudges too easily) across the edge of your eyelash curler where it would be touching your lid right above your lashes, curl and voila! Instantly lined lids and curled lashes.
Get smooth feet in your sleep
Simply slather your tootsies in moisturiser and slip on some socks before you pass out. You’ll wake up with baby soft feet!
Emma is just your average book loving, tea drinking, story writing, narcissistic millennial on an eternal quest for the perfect t-shirt. Ever since she picked up her first copy of Dolly when she was twelve, she always knew she wanted to work in magazines. She would describe herself as a bit of a hopeless romantic with an obsession for true crime and horror and a love for red wine, whiskey or a stiff gin and tonic. When she's not binge watching Netflix or buying things she can't afford online, she spends her weekends trawling through bookstores and eating her way through Brisbane.
