New York Fashion Week has set the tone for this Australian spring summer 16/17 beauty trends.

As New York Fashion Week comes to a close, we’ve decided to highlight our favourite beauty trends that dominated the runway. Featuring bold pops of colour, updated flower crowns and bold lips, here are our favourite beauty looks which we can guarantee we’ll be recreating this spring summer 16/17.

Colourful lids

Colourful eyeshadows in contrasting and complimentary shades are set to be a major beauty trend for this Australian spring summer 16/17. Featured across the runways, we especially loved the looks by Jill Stuart, Tadashi Shoji and Barragan. While we understand that stepping outside of our usual neutral toned eyeshadows comfort zone can be scary, the warmer months are the perfect excuse to experiment with your makeup and inject some unpredictable colour into your aesthetic.

Bold lips

It wouldn’t be summer without a statement lip. This season it’s all about kissable, cherry tones paired with fresh, radiant skin. We are lusting after the gorgeous crimson shade featured in the Creatures of the Wind show, and the subtle, barely there pop of orange on the Adeam catwalk. If you’re wanting to make a major statement, you can’t go past the ombré lips seen on Jason Wu’s runway. This is one lip trend we’ll be experimenting with this season.

Neutral smokey eye

If you’re wanting to play around with your eyeshadows, yet you can’t bear to part with your favourite neutral tones then this is for you. The neutral smokey eye is a modern update to the much loved trend. We love the subtle, blended aesthetic by Marissa Webb and the coppery shade featured in Michael Costello.

Graphic Liner

Graphic liner was a major trend for autumn winter, and it’s not going anywhere this season. Whether it’s a classic wing spotted by Opening Ceremony or an emerald, smudged aesthetic featured in the Victoria Beckham show, this was a popular look across the runway. This Australian spring summer 16/17 update the trend with a bold liner, such as the beautiful turquoise look created for the Christian Siriano show.

Sleek, tousled and twists

As for hair, this season the major players include the ‘I-just-stepped-out-of-the-ocean-and-look-amazing’ wet look featured in the across the runway, tousled locks and messy twist buns.

Festival vibes

With the warmer months come the much anticipated festival season. The dramatic flower crowns featured in the Michael Costello show is a perfect option, as well as the subtle glitter featured in Rachel Comey and the modern war paint spotted in the Tome show.

Playful beauty

Desigual.

We couldn’t talk about our favourite beauty trends from New York fashion Week without talking about Desigual’s show. Taking inspiration from our favourite app, Snapchat, models walked down the runway sporting makeup inspired by the apps renowned filters. Our favourites are the flower and butterfly crowns, but we can’t go past our favourite of all time, the dog filter.

Have fun this Australian spring/summer 16/17 and play with these beauty looks for a chic, on trend aesthetic all season long.
