No-Fuss Event Ready Makeup

From coffee meetings throughout the day to switching pace and attending a media launch or Yelp event at night, versatile and long-lasting makeup products have become my best friends. Here's my top tips for makeup that can take you from day-to-night and a quick rundown of the local businesses I trust to keep me primped and primed.

Day Makeup
I work remotely and my daily schedule can can go from walking my dog in the morning to getting a coffee before sitting down to answer emails to heading into the city to meet business owners. Simple, but polished is my go-to look.

(L-R) Chanel Illusion D'Ombre √Čmerveille (Max Factor also do a pretty good budget dupe for these), Chantecaille Just Skin Tinted Moisturiser and NARS Deep Throat blush (this is the perfect pink to give my cheeks some life!)

Ready, Set, Go - Night Look
I tend to keep my event look fairly classic. It's either a bold lip (NARS Jungle Red) or bold eye, never both.

(L-R) Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation (this stuff stays put, makes your skin glow and photographs so well!), Bare Minerals Mascara, Laura Mercier Primer (this is key to making it all stay a little bit longer), Max Factor Creme Puff Blush in Nude Mauve (this is a new go-to. It gives just a hint of colour and works with most looks), NARS Soft Touch Eyeshadow Pencil (if I'm doing my makeup on the go a one-stop cream eyeshadow pot or pencil keeps things easy-peasy without carrying multiple palettes).

Brisbane Glam Squad
With naturally unruly hair, brows that need plucking and all that jazz I'm glad that a few years have led to a handful of great local businesses that I trust with taming my mane and keeping my skin looking good.

David Murry Salon, South Brisbane
I've been seeing David and his small team of stylists for around 4 years now. They're versatile and as happy doing classic colours as they are to guide you to a new shade of peacock green.

Brows and Facials:
There's only one woman I'll let near my brows and that is Chantelle who has just moved salons to Milk & Honey Medi-Spa in Chapel Hill. It's worth the drive across town and she's also a god send when it comes to indulging in a luxurious facial.

Confession? I'm a chronic nail biter. Despite knowing how bad a habit it is, as soon as I'm stressed I'll gnaw away at them. Solution? Shellac manicures. Brooklyn Beauty Bar is a great spot to take an hour out to have your nails done in a New York inspired salon.

I'd never had a pedicure until this year. That is until a girlfriend introduced me to Pho Thai Spa in New Farm. As well as being a blissful escape and good time to be away from all devices, it's more than just a pedicure as they combine massage into the treatment.
