Australian Skin Clinics dermal skin expert and National Training Manager, Darlene O’Gara, let slip on the most innovative technologies and the beauty trends she expects to see in 2018.

Australian Skin Clinics dermal skin expert and National Training Manager, Darlene O’Gara, let slip on the most innovative technologies and the beauty trends she expects to see in 2018.

Trend #1: LED Light Therapy

LED Light Therapy is set to be one of the biggest trends of 2018 thanks to its incredible healing properties. LED Light Therapy achieves total skin rejuvenation by using the healing power of light to deeply target skin cells and heighten their internal functions. The best thing about this treatment? It enhances collagen, treats acne and… it’s completely painless!

“LED Light Therapy isn’t a new technology, but we expect it will take off in a big way in 2018 as its benefits become more widely known. The treatment will be most popular among acne-sufferers and those clients who are looking for accelerated healing post-surgery,” Miss O’Gara said.

Trend #2 Nanopore Micro-needling

Nanopore Micro-Needling is the hottest new treatment among more experienced clients. The treatment uses micro-puncturesto cause a superficial ‘wounding’ to the skin and encourage new collagen formation.

Not to be confused with the “vampire facial,” Nanopore Micro-Needling is not a painful procedure and does not require any anesthetic cream, although the patient can choose to use numbing cream if they wish.

“The latest technology out of Spain uses a pen-like machine that causes 900 micro-punctures per second and can even target sensitive areas such as skin around the eyebrow bone and under the eye, fighting signs of ageing like never before.”

Treatments are recommended four to six weeks apart over the course of four to six months, and will leave you with fresher, tighter-looking skin.

Trend #3 CryoDefine Fat Freezing

“CryoDefine was introduced in 2017 but we are expecting it to skyrocket in popularity for 2018 as people see more and more amazing results,” said Miss O’Gara.

CryoDefine Fat Freezing offers you a quick, non-invasive solution to removing stubborn fat cells. This safe alternative to liposuction surgery takes only 45 minutes, and requires no downtime, no needles and no surgery.
“With only a few treatments needed before seeing results, there is no doubt that CryoDefine will be a popular treatment in 2018.”

Trend #4 Cruelty-free skin care products

Australian Skin Clinics expect cruelty-free skin care with active ingredients to be a huge growth area in 2018, as the general public become more aware of the importance of looking after your skin and the environment.

“Beauty and skincare fans are becoming more aware of animal cruelty-free products and treatments, but they also want something that will give them the results they are looking for” Miss O’Gara said.

“This is where the more professional, cosmeceuticals products such as Balense will take over from the cheaper, supermarket brands. All products recommended by Australian Skin Clinics use scientifically-proven ingredients to assist in combating the visible signs of ageing, pigmentation and acne.

It sounds like we can look forward to an exciting New Year of bigger and better beauty trends!
