Endota Spa Reveals the Beauty Secrets You Need to Know

Written by

Endota Spa is known for offering an excellent beauty service in a relaxed environment. Could you tell us a little bit more behind Endota's philosophy?

EC: At Endota Spa we believe that wellness is for everyone and our day spa treatments help others embrace the feeling of this and relaxation. With Australian sourced natural ingredients and a soothing and result driven range of treatments - the surroundings at Endota are a pampering and down to earth heaven. It's the perfect place for a wax or an all day spa treatment.

Breakouts and problematic skin are a major concern for women. What advice would you give them to help control this issue?

EC: This can be very frustrating for women and prevention starts with clean skin. So always double cleanse before bed. The first cleanse removes make up, dirt and left over products on the skin. Whereas the second cleanse treats the skin. Cleansing twice also ensures that the skin utilises any of the products applied to aid in fixing breakouts or concerns more rapidly.

Two other important tips would be to increase your water intake and stress less.

At Endota Spa we have some amazing skin products to help with minimising break outs and clearing them up quickly.

What is your top skincare tip?

EC: I would recommend to regularly have your skin analysed by a Professional Skin Therapist to ensure any changes or concerns are addressed sooner rather than later.

Just like you need to work out at the gym for results and have your PT ensure you are maximising your results by exercising correctly, you must also check in with your skin trainer from time to time. Your skin therapist is the go to trainer for all those hot tips that can take your skin care regime to the next level. Sometimes it's as easy as incorporating a new cleanser targeted just for your skin type or adding in an SPF to stop the damage that the sun does to the skin.

What's the biggest skincare myth?

EC: Rumour: Botox can prevent wrinkles! Theoretically, yes. But no long term studies support this claim. If you relax the muscles that continually contract, you'll see less creases over time. As botox wears off the muscle that has not been continually contracted, the muscle will have lost its strength, collagen and elastin resulting in more creases and fine lines! Other strategies, like using sunscreen and keeping proper skin care products are more reliable and certainly less expensive options for fending off wrinkles.

What factors influence the way our skin behaves?

EC: Environmental factors and everyday stress definintely has an impact on the way our skin behaves. Though, we can certainly encourage a more balanced environment like having less sugar and more water or less air-conditioning and more fresh air. But it is super important to focus on lowering your stress levels if you really want to have that amazing skin you've always wanted. Hormones wreak havoc on our skin, and they are secreted rapidly with stress. It's that flight or fight response we feel on a regular basis everyday - so slow down, sip some organic tea and take some YOU time.

What are the three worst things a woman can do to her skin?

1. Pick at their blemishes.
2. Use products that aren't suitable for them.
3. Not protect themselves from the harsh UV rays we have here in Australia

Should one's skincare routine change based on their age?

EC: Of course, it is very important to change your regime and products accordingly. At a younger age you should start on a basic skin care plan to keep your skin healthy and youthful looking. As you get older and your skin changes, your cellular turnover slows down and moisture levels decrease and this is when you then need to customise your products and regime to allow for this change. This is were an expert skin therapist can offer you their professional advice. They can review your skin and work with you on your concerns and look at the skin to tailor the best products for you to use. For example, that might include a moisturiser for pigmentation or a night cream to slow down the wrinkles or a maybe even a new exfoliant to minimise black heads.

What are your top two tips to prevent aging?

EC: Hydration and SPF, oh and Exfoliation, yes I have three!. I call them the trifecta of skin health.

All are just as important as each other, because if you don't exfoliate when you hydrate, the hydration won't get to where it needs to be because there is a dead skin buildup, and if you, don't wear SPF your skin will produce an extra barrier (pigmentation, thickened skin) to protect itself and that results in the hydration not going to where it's needed.

What do we need to keep in mind skincare wise when prepping for winter?

EC: First thing to remember is the sun is still there - you just don't feel it burning as quickly so don't get lazy with your SPF. Also the colder climate and lack of sunshine will mean our skin can become dry and dehydrated. Therefore we need to add extra hydration back into the skin. This can be achieved by adding a booster or serum under your moisturiser or if not already, introducing a night cream to your routine to could key. This is the best time of the year to get a Dermalogica BioSurface Peel done for optimal results as well.

What is one skin care product every woman should own?

EC: SPF! This is the best for protection and prevention. Dermalogica have the ultimate Primer with an SPF 30+ and it is full of Anti-aging antioxidants to help protect against free radical damage. It's also perfect for a touch of colour on those make up free days.

A great You Tube clip to help understand the importance of protecting your skin from UV Rays is, "How the Sun Really Sees You." Take a look below:

How important is exfoliating?

EC: As we age, the process of cell regeneration slows down. This means that the body is slower to shed skin cells and generate new ones. When old skin cells start to pile up on the surface of the skin, it can leave skin looking dull, rough, and dry. Plus the build-up of dead skin cells can result in excess oil and clogged pores, leading to blemishes and acne. Proper exfoliation removes the barrier of dead skin cells. This opens the way for moisturising products to penetrate more deeply into the skin, which makes them more effective. In short, a regular exfoliating routine will leave your skin looking fresh and healthy.

Any final words on skincare wisdom?

EC: Make sure you do your research and find a passionate therapist you can turn to for the right answers and the results you deserve.
