Celebrate yourself – it's natural to look at other people's lives and feel like they've got it all. But you've got to play to your own strengths. Success is about knowing what you have going for you and using those qualities to your best advantage. Start by listing ten positive things about yourself. Maybe you have glossy hair, beautiful feet, a trim waist, maybe you cook a mean roast dinner, or maybe you've created a caring and nurturing home for your children. Acknowledging your attributes is a great way to boost self-esteem.
Don't limit yourself – thoughts along the lines of "I'm a terrible cook" or "I'll never be pretty/thin" hold us back, and they're probably not even true. The only limitations in life are the ones we impose on ourselves. There will always be feelings of fear and self-doubt, but the break-through comes when we push out of our comfort zone and just go for it.
Listen to your dreams – I started by telling you to embrace your life at it is now, but if you have a long-standing, burning desire for a specific dream then it would be foolish to ignore it. If you're working a 9-5 office job but always wanted to be a children's illustrator, for example, then you may well be feeling frustrated. Making even a tiny first step towards fulfilling your potential is when things start to feel like you're on the right track to living the life you should be living.
