From the highlighter challenge to confetti eyeliner, here’s the latest makeup trends that are taking the beauty world by storm!

The highlighter challenge

This look is perfect for anyone wanting to create a blinding glow (seriously, for health and safety reasons please warn everyone around you to wear sunglasses asap!) First created by YouTuber, Mariya, this look involves using different highlighters to create your whole face of makeup, including the base, contour and highlight. Yep, you read that right, highlight on highlight! While it’s not an everyday look, for those obsessed with shimmer, this is one for you. Plus, the results are divine!

Marble lipstick

Marble has been dominating the interior scene for a while, and now the beauty industry has created their own take. Illamasqua’s Lava Lip’s formula blends the two shades together when applying, meaning that with every wear a completely unique shade is created.

Confetti eyeliner

There is a new liner trend making waves within the beauty industry. Confetti eyeliner takes the traditional cat eye and gives it a shockingly bright twist. Like the recent bubble liner trend, confetti liner will inject instant, bold colour into a monochrome outfit. To create, simply dot an array of coloured liners in a winged liner shape. For extra glam, incorporate glitter and metallic liners into your look.

Gold mascara

If you love the metallic trend, yet you just want to dip your toe into the glitter, then gold mascara is for you. To wear, simply apply your usual mascara and then apply the golden product to the tips of your lashes. Like they say, if the eyes are the window to the soul then you might as well make them memorable.

 Tonal look

Thanks to the Kardashian-Jenner’s, tonal dressing has been one trend that everyone has been coveting. Tonal makeup is the process of using colours of the same shade throughout your whole look, including lips, eyes and cheeks. While it does sound crazy, the results are beautiful. Pro tip: Use your matte liquid lipstick as liner. Simply apply with angle brush and viola- instant tonal winged liner.
