You do you, girl.

In the age of social media, it can be tough to see carefully curated feeds filled with beach vibes and hashtags like #blessed without feeling somewhat inadequate. Sure, we all know people tend to only post the positive stuff – promotions, good hair days, or the results of months of slogging it out at the gym. There’s nothing wrong with celebrating your achievements. In fact, we love and support it! But there’s also nothing wrong with having a week, or even a couple of months, where you feel like you just don’t have your life together.

There’s a reason shows like New Girl and Sex and the City are so popular: they’re relatable. We all love to see a character who may have the style of a fashion goddess, but whose life doesn’t always go to plan. Because we get it. We’ve all been there. We’re all living it. And it’s totally okay to not have it all together.

Maybe you’re the perpetually late girl and everyone teasing you about it has you a bit on edge lately. Or you’re in a career rut and aren’t sure how to take the next step – or even what that step should be. Just know this: no one has it going on all the time. Even girl boss idols like Emma Watson and Anna Wintour have off weeks.

In a time where it seems like everyone has to hustle, we can tend to be too harsh on ourselves. Instead of self-criticism because you didn’t work all weekend to get ahead, try some self-love! Reflect on the fun or relaxing things you did on those days. Better yet, cut yourself some slack when it comes to your goals. You’re much more likely to achieve them if you acknowledge that the road won’t be easy and you’ll have uninspired patches. Preparing yourself for that means you’ll be kinder to yourself when they do come along, which in turn means you’ll be able to push through for the so-worth it results!

Everyone does things at their own pace, so it’s important that you find yours and don’t punish yourself for any speed bumps you encounter. Take it from the girl who always sleeps through alarms and has left her car headlights on more times than she’d care to admit: no one has it together all the time, and that’s okay. You do you.

She is passionate about performance, fashion, and social progress, and is a confirmed #NastyWoman. In her spare time Hanna can be found devouring a book or magazine, watching 'Friends' or asking her parents for Snapchats of the family’s two beagles.
