If you’re feeling overwhelmed or craving a brain spring clean, follow our seven tips for feeling reinspired and refreshed.

Life is hectic, and sometimes it can feel like everything is happening around you and you can’t keep up! Monotonous daily routines can start to feel like drudgery, even if you’re in a job you love. It’s important to allow yourself to feel frustrated or tired, but it’s even more important that those feelings don’t become your everyday state of mind! If you’re feeling overwhelmed or craving a brain spring clean, follow our seven tips for feeling reinspired and refreshed.

Clean up your space

Nothing kills creativity and productivity like the stress that comes from a messy workspace. Whether you work from home, in a private office, or in an open-plan office, you should have your area set up so that it reflects your personality and calms you. Think fresh neutral colours, minimal clutter, and a tidy space – put everything but the essentials away in drawers or cupboards.

Take mini-breaks

This is something you can do every day to quickly feel invigorated. Stop what you’re doing, get up, have a stretch, get some water – whatever it takes to momentarily bring you out of whatever frame of mind you were in. Then, take a few deep, cleansing breaths and get back to it!

Remember your reasons

If you’re feeling a little uninspired in your career, this is a good mindfulness exercise. Take a moment and think back to what first incited your passion. Write a list of the things you love about it, or simply list them in your head. In no time, you’ll start feeling that excitement again.

Me time

Everybody talks about “me time”, right? But what is it really? Well, it’s whatever you want it to be! It’s some solo time to do what you enjoy, but try not to make it work-related (so even though you love your job, me time is not the time to work on your latest project). Take a walk, read a book in the park, light a scented candle and do some breathing exercises. It’s amazing how even thirty minutes of self-indulgence can make you feel like a whole new you!

Talk to a mentor

If you’re needing a bit of guidance or inspiration, chat to someone more experienced. It could be someone at work, a family member, or just someone you admire. Getting some advice and hearing about their experiences can really galvanise you. Plus, you’re spending time on a relationship that matters to you, so you’ll feel good about that too.

Get creative

We know how that sounds: if you were feeling creative, you wouldn’t need tips on getting inspired, right? Hear us out. Make a mood board, jump on Pinterest, do some bullet journaling – get your creative juices flowing and the ideas will begin to flow soon afterwards.

Pamper sesh

Bubble baths, mud masks and mani-pedis all have the same magic qualities: they can reinspire and refresh even the most worn out, overwhelmed girlboss! Treat yourself. You deserve it.

Hanna

Hanna Sloan is studying a Creative and Professional Writing degree at QUT. She grew up wanting to be either a writer or a professional dancer, or both. Nothing has changed. She is passionate about performance, fashion, and social progress, and is a confirmed #NastyWoman. Hanna is the proud curator of a shoe collection surpassing sixty pairs, and always thought Andie Anderson in 'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days' was crazy for not wanting to write about shoes for a living. In her spare time Hanna can be found devouring a book or magazine, watching 'Friends' or asking her parents for Snapchats of the family’s two beagles.
